Instructions

If you have lost your right to study because of neglected registration, you can use this form to apply re-registration. Application period for the academic year or the autumn semester is June 1 – September 10.

Fill in the application carefully. The application will be rejected if any required information or attachments are missing.

Students liable for tuition fees must pay the tuition fee via Flywire or submit the valid excempting document when registering as an attending student.

- receipt of the tuition fee payment or

- pictures of both sides of your valid residence permit card

must be attached on this e-form before proceeding to submit the application. Please note, if your residence permit is based on studies, you are not exempted from paying the tuition fee.

If you wish to register as non-attending student without a specific reason, please make sure that you have your non-attending semesters left. If you are unsure, please contact Tuition Fees Services (tuitionfees@seamk.fi) before submitting the application. If you have used your non-attendance semesters, you can only register as an attending student (see instructions from the previous section).

If you have a statutory reason to register as a non-attending student, please see the instructions of required documents below.

The application processing fee is 50 euros (A1440/2014, 3 §).

- When you submit this form, you will be forwarded to the online payment service.

- You cannot submit the application without paying the application processing fee.

Processing the re-registration may take even a few weeks, please wait patiently. Also note, that applications are not processed between June 25 - July 12, 2026.

Re-registration as attending student by paying the tuition fee

You will be registered based on your application. Please note, to be registered as an attending student, you need to attach a receipt of the paid tuition fee.

SEAMK Tuition Fees Services will record your registration as an attending student in Peppi-system based on the amount of the paid tuition fee.

Re-registration as attending student with an exempting document

You will be registered based on your application. Please note, to be registered as an attending student, you need to attach valid exempting document (pictures of both sides of your residence permit card or picture of your personal ID information on your Finnish passport).

SEAMK Tuition Fees Services will record your registration as an attending student in Peppi-system based on the acceptable exempting document.

Please note: If you have been exempted from paying the tuition fee earlier, but you lose your study right, SEAMK will have to reassess your liability to pay tuition fees again when processing this application.

If your first residence permit is based on studies, you are not exempted from paying the tuition fee.

Re-registration as non-attending student

Continuing students may register as non-attending for up to one academic year (two semesters) without providing a specific reason after the first year of studies.

- This non-attendance period uses the allowed non-attendance periods, but it does not affect the length of the right to study.

- If student has already used both non-attendance semesters, they cannot register as non-attending without providing a statutory reason.

Registration as non-attending student with statutory reason

Students may register as non-attending at any stage of their studies if they have a statutory reason.

- Non-attendance with a statutory reason does not use any of student’s non-attendance periods and does not affect the length of the right to study.

Non-attendance with a statutory reason may be granted for the following reasons:

- completing military service, non-military service or women’s voluntary military service, or

- when the student needs time off his/her studies to take care of a child in regard to the child’s birth or adoption (14.1.2022/52)

Students must always provide proof of statutory reason when they register as non-attending due to statutory grounds. A personal notification is not considered adequate proof. SEAMK reserves the right to approve or reject the document.

Attachment, non-attending with the statutory reason

Documents for providing the statutory reason are:

1) When in active service in accordance with the Finnish Conscription Act, the Non-Military Service Act or the Women’s Voluntary Military Service Act

- order to report for service or a copy of a valid military passport
2) When the student needs time off his/her studies to take care of a child in regard to the child’s birth or adoption

-Kela’s certificate regarding maternity, paternity or parental allowance period or,

- if the certificate has not yet been received, a medical certificate regarding student’s own pregnancy.

Please note that for registration purposes, the document must be valid:

- for the autumn semester: at least on August 1, and
- for the spring semester: at least on January 1
